Fresh Madison Market’s “True Local” Mobile Application Now Available for Android Users

Madison, WI, (August 30, 2011) – In February, Fresh Madison Market, on the corner of Lake and University in downtown Madison, launched its “True Local” campaign to the public. Focused on creating a sustainable economy by supporting and carrying as many “True Local” products as possible, Fresh Madison Market incorporated a mobile application as part of their integrated, in-store POP and web-based marketing campaign. When originally rolled out, this mobile application, highlighting the store’s commitment to the local vendor and local inventory, was only available to iPhone users. Beginning tomorrow, this app can be downloaded by Android users as well.

The mobile application works to further enhance the store’s commitment to the local vendor. The application will take in-store POP materials one step further. The customer can “scan” a barcode by taking a picture of it with their smartphone. Fun, interactive media will teach the consumer about the brand and how the product is made. If the product is not made in Wisconsin, the app will offer local alternatives in the store’s inventory. There may even be a coupon available that the customer can scan at checkout.

Since the original roll out, over 800 iPhone users have downloaded the application. Developers of the application, Madison-based, SnowShoeFood, LLC., are expecting a great response from Android users as well.

“SnowShoeFood, LLC. is excited to offer the true local app for Android phones. We've experienced fantastic success with the iPhone version of the app, and it is great to be able to serve another major smartphone market segment with this product.” SnowShoeFood, LLC. founder and CEO, Claus Moberg recently said. “We know that Android users will really enjoy using the true local app to find and save money on locally made food items throughout Fresh Madison Market."

The updated version has enhanced features customized to fit the Droid based smartphones as well as updated technological features allowing the app to run faster. This mobile app is exclusive to Fresh Madison Market in the Dane County area.

“When we partnered with SnowShoeFood, LLC., we were excited to offer our vendors a unique marketing tool which would not only help our business but theirs as well.” Fresh Madison Market owner Jeff Maurer said. “The Android app will allow an even greater percentage of our customer base to experience this great tool and in turn, help to support our local economy.”
